“I am The True Vine, and my Father is the vinedresser” John 15:1
Jesus described himself as the True Vine because like the vines you find in a typical vineyard, He gives life and enables the production of fruit. However, there are many types of vines which do not produce any fruit and those which, like weeds, threaten the survival of the other plants and vines in the garden.
There will always be false vines that seek to attach themselves to us. We must ensure that we are attached to the true vine, not a vine that will choke life from us or an unfruitful vine that will waste our time and energy.
The True Vine is aware of every branch, the fruitful and the unfruitful. His desire is for His branches to be fruitful. The branch is not independent of the vine.” We must be rooted and grounded in Christ.”(Eph3:17)
John 15:4 encourages us to “abide” or remain in the vine because the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine.
Let us abide in the True Vine and we will have productive, purposeful, and fruitful lives.
