The Word of God is like a Mirror…

“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face…”1 Cor 13:12 (NIV)

The Word of God is compared to a mirror on many occasions in the Bible.

A mirror is generally used for personal grooming, examining and admiring ourselves because it reflects what it sees.

We look in a mirror everyday, we have them placed in different sections of our home, we have traveling mirrors; because we love looking at ourselves. Whenever we look in the mirror and see something out-of-place, we make the necessary adjustments to make ourselves look good. Likewise, we must value the Word and be constantly looking in the mirror of the Word of God to examine ourselves.

The Word of God reflects the mind and will of God, so we as believers use it to examine ourselves and allow it to transform our hearts and minds.  James 1:22 admonishes us to be doers of the word and not just hearers. When we hear God’s Word and put it to use, then power is released and transformation takes place in our lives.

The Word of God is like a mirror, but this mirror not only shows us what we are, but it also shows us what we can become.

Beloved, embrace the word and practice to walk in it, then you will experience transformation in your life.

A mirror reflects the substance of what is in front of it. In the verse you quoted and in the onevin Corinthians it talks of seeing Christ in the reflection. A mirror sees not in the past or future but now (at this present moment ) so Christ is in me/you now. He is sinless so now are you sinless, he is whole so now are you whole.

Love your post, I’ve been contemplating this whole mirror thing and have posted alot on it. Keep on keeping on!
